Local Gold showcases the best and latest original music acts in Canberra.
Hosted by lovable local rockstar, Pete Lyon, the three part show opens with a proven emerging talent and progresses to a headline set from a higher profile established favourite. Most acts are local, but it’s pretty Canberra to welcome visitors too, right.
Local Gold is intimate, fun and entertaining, with an emphasis on authentic artistic expression in original contemporary songwriting. So, if you love hearing local talent, new and old, raw or polished, make this a recurring appointment in your calendar!
Appearing Monday April 7 2025
Randall Blair and Fiona Bolton are local gold! Their band, The Lonely Fates is getting lots of notice after (and before) their recent set supporting Alex Llyod at BelcoArts. There’s a clip of their song “Deep Unknown” on their Facebook page - go see it - it’s world class! Randall mightn’t tell you this, but he’s an outstanding song writer who draws on years of dedication, practice and experience - at being a human as much as a tinkerer with words and melody. Teamed up with the equally talented Fiona they forge a sum beyond the parts. Their beautiful voices and songs will draw you in effortlessly..but, right when you think you’ve understood what’s going on, you’ll realise there’s always more to go. Seeing them on the Local Gold stage will be an experience you’ll long remember.
Marianne Mettes is local gold. Her unbounded creativity, infectious musical passion, and her generous hold on the human condition, are a joy to see. She’s a richly talented musician, writer and performer whose diverse work seems as much about making sense of this beautiful, chaotic, painful world as it is about simply mirroring it. She presents an exquisite balance of innocence and insight that will hold the audience captive. She’s recently returned to performing her songs after a break, presumably to concentrate on her other creative talents - eg puppeteering, but no doubt there’s lots of others. That’s just what she’s like!
CJ Adams (also local gold)
“I grew up just outside of DC where I picked up Harmonica and Guitar just as I was headed for University @Minnesota. I also developed a taste for singing folk rock, learning Heart of Gold and Take it Easy right at the beginning of my musical journey. I only started writing in the past 2.5 years as I’ve contemplated life off the train tracks that was school, k-12 then 4 years of college. But not being at school anymore, once I graduated, scared the shit outa me, so I went back, which is how I came to be here in Australia.”
