Ever at the ready to challenge the prudish, prurient, wowser types and their notions that nudity is inherently associated with sexuality and is to be abhorred in all situations except, or even including, the marital boudoir, Smith’s presents Unclothed People Doing Things.
Our MC, the impossibly handsome Nigel McRae, will guide us through the following unclothed entertainments:
Kitty White, one of our most regular and beloved unclothed people, will be delighting us with a live painting with live unclothed easels and possibly audience participation.
Jarrah Hoey. You may recognise him as a Smith’s regular, oft with pad and pen, sketching the performers and/or audience members, clothed or not clothed, whether they be unclothed or, actually, clothed. He has also been a busking trombonist around town. He’s appeared at numerous Unclothed’s and once again he’ll be playing the trombone, ‘boning’ as it were, but this time also rapping, delivering a rap postscript to a Cuddlefish song titled “There is Nothing Finer Than a Hairy Vagina”.
Cuddlefish are shy creatures with flesh that can change colour to express their emotions. They’re rarely seen in public, mostly preferring to share their incendiary gifts amongst fellow fiends in debaucherous after-parties or random moments of leisure time. Catch them this one night, fully exposed, their tendrils quivering, with nothing between them and you but the water we breathe.
Bob Abigail is an enigmatic creature. They suffered the great misfortune of being reared in upper middle class banality but has since done their best to insinuate themself into the lower-middle, povo-bohemian classes. Bob will be reciting poems and singing.
Mim and Zach play in Canberra‘s premier dixie jazz band, Zackerbilks, Mim on ukulele and vocals and Zach on trumpet.. Playing as a duo, Zach will don a guitar, Mim the uke, and they’ll be playing a suite of folky songs.
The Standard Deviants are a folk punk band, suitably scarce in musical talent, made up for with a shit-tonne of attitude, funny/poignant lyrics and beatifully composed sneers. Band leaders, vocalists and chief songwriters, Joey and Jacinta will be playing as a duo on guitar and bass.
Heist Society Call the cops and triple check your pockets when this dastardly duo is in town. Robbie and Bori have committed daylight robbery to bring you a selection of the finest tunes pilfered from the early 1900s, to be presented for your enjoyment on plundered piano and contraband clarinet. They may steal your wallet - but they'll also steal your heart.
