Health modelling indicates that phasing out the commercial supply of tobacco products would rapidly reduce smoking rates and make substantial improvements to equity. Economic modelling shows the impact on government revenue would be relatively modest.

Andrew Perusco, PhD Candidate at the ANU, will discuss the rationale for the focus of his research, and the methods he is employing to analyse tobacco control policy discourse. He will discuss some early findings and reflect on issues such as, the value of the socioecological model of addiction versus the biological model, and whether tobacco endgame policies are coherent with policy reforms on illicit drug use.

There’ll be time for questions/discussion.
