‘The Blacksmith’ is a locally produced feature film inspired by a script written by the director, Steve Cooke. The film is like many independent films, produced on a shoestring budget and relying on the support of local Canberra establishments to find the right locations for the film’s scenes.
A dark and broody film, the central characters are superbly brought to life by local Canberra actors. What follows is a story that will keep the audience guessing. There’s even a twist at the end, left open for the audience to interpret.
Films Synopsis
Affected by the trauma of being a police officer, Jesse, along with his partner, Ella, are keen for a new life with a fresh start. They purchase an old homestead just outside a regional town, far away from the city. The property is also home to an old blacksmith’s shed. Jesse has always wanted to try blacksmithing.
As they begin their new life, strange things begin to happen. The homestead’s tragic history is revealed, leading to a showdown with an evil spirit determined to consume the soul of a little girl, now just a ghost. Jesse discovers that there was good reason for the superstitions held by blacksmiths.
