ShaYu Zhi x HeiZhiMa is a collaborative project between Zhi and HeiZhiMa conceptualised and undertaken on Ngunawal/Ngunnawal/Ngambri Country. The work focuses on coming to terms with queerness, queerness in context of cultural identity and love.

Zhi is a poet/artist. They aspire to deep joy mediocrity and seek honest embodiment.

Zhi's debut poetry collection, blur by the (Subbed In), won the Anne Elder Award (2019) and was highly commended in the ACT Writers Annual Awards (2020). The poetry collection was also shortlisted in the Mary Gilmore Award (2020), and the inaugural Small Press Network Book of the Year Award (2020).

HeiZhiMa is a sound artist who weaves topics of cultural identity and belonging, environmentalism, and sensuality into narrative style production and sets.

Expect live poetry with evocative soundscapes. The night will also include an extended open mic - so bring your writing to share.
