Multilingual poetry open-mic, live at Smith's Alternative and online via Zoom! Sign up to share a poem in a language other than English, or sit back and soak up poetry in many languages, plus feature performer KairosL.
 
KairosL is a multi-lingual songwriter, vocalist and therapist. KairosL harnesses the power of music and lyrics for cultural dialogue, therapeutic progress and reconnecting deeply with the web of life. She performs in seven languages: English, Mandarin Chinese, Indonesian, French, Spanish, Japanese, Hokkien, Cantonese, Hindi, Tamil.
 
The doors at Smith's and on Zoom open at 6.30pm, and the event starts at 7.00pm. The Zoom link will be shared via this event, page, and email at 6.00pm on the day.
 
To sign up for the open mic and share a poem in a language other than English email mothertonguemic@gmail.com. Poets have 4 minutes to share their poem, plus any introduction or translation into English. All styles from traditional forms from your culture through to contemporary slam poetry are welcome, and you can read your original poem, or a piece by another poet.
 
More about KairosL: Born on the tropical equator to buddhist chinese-speaking parents that grew up in Indonesia and Singapore, she is currently living and working between Southeast QLD and Far North NSW (Bundjalung country). Her current ikigai is harnessing the power of yoga and music, advocating for inclusive accessibility strategies with non-profit Street Poet, all while reconnecting deeply with the web of life.
