Like all great soul singers before her, Laura Ingram developed her chops singing in smoky clubs and gospel churches. A protégé of musical legend Vince Jones at 16, Laura has supported Clare Bowditch as part of her national tour, was a headline act for Melbourne Fringe Festivals ‘Women of Soul’ and is now pleased to release her debut single Valentine’s Day.

Co-produced by Bob Knob (Hope Street Recordings, The Meltdown) Valentine’s Day unpacks a modern love story and calls into question the pressure that placed on one day - 14 February - to express and show love.

Talking about her inspiration Laura said, ‘to me, soul music means standing up for yourself, not letting anybody tell you can’t, or that you are not good enough. I sing from a raw & real place, because I want to show that owning anger, confusion and shame can be very empowering.’

Like modern greats Eryka Badu, Amy Winehouse, and Alabama Shakes, Laura writes and performs original songs with an old world feeling and offering a modern approach. Laura knowingly teases through her masterful vocals, her delivery is bewitching and infectious as it is intimate, acknowledging the strength and empowerment that comes from accepting that we all ‘deserve a piece of heaven’.
