At the age of nine, a young Joe Mungovan would never have imagined that begging his parents “for a drum kit for Christmas” would pave his way into some of the most prestigious stages in Australia. The now folk singer/songwriter, crashed his skateboard at the age of 13, leaving him unable to play his drumkit and in a wheelchair for 4 months. Joe taught himself guitar and unconsciously developed a indie/roots style which blend together to produce his unique style. With attention to articulate lyrics, catchy melodies and rhythmic detail, Joe’s songs express his genuine emotion. His authenticity and passion is conveyed in his intimate live show, and is an experience not worth missing.
In September Joe released ‘My Jumper’, the first single from his second EP ‘Way Down South’. It has already scored airplay on Triple J and the song has been added to rotation on Triple J Unearthed.

‘Way Down South’ was released in March and debuted at #2 on the iTunes Singer – Songwriter charts.
At 21 years of age, Joe has already shared stages with some of Australia’s most well known acts including The Preatures, Ian Moss (Cold Chisel), Mark Seymour (Hunters and Collectors), Glenn Shorrock (Little River Band) JOY., and Owen Rabbit. Joe has also played pre-show entertainment at The Sydney Entertainment Centre for Neil Young, Gotye, Paul Simon and Sting.
Joe has played at numerous venues across Australia including The Forum Theatre, The Sydney Entertainment Centre, The Sydney Convention Centre, All Phones Arena, The Wollongong Entertainment Centre, The Abbey, The Sydney Cricket Ground and The Shangri-la. He has also performed at a variety of festivals including the Caloundra Music Festival, Nannup Music Festival, Bendigo Blues and Roots Festival, Tablelands Folk Festival, Vivid Festival, Viva La Gong Illawarra Folk Festival, Kiama Jazz and Blues Festival, BEAMS festival, and Folk By The Sea. Joe was also named ‘2014 Folk Singer/Songwriter Of The Year’ by Songsalive Australia.
Having toured the country over the past 2 years, Joe is making a name for himself all over Australia.
