James Fahy and Joe Oppenheimer (musical brothers) will be trading songs at Smiths (their favourite stage) on July 9th (the anniversary of both Royal Assent to Australian Independence from the crown and the first public appearance of Mario in a video game - coincidence?)
It's the best way to see either of these artists (James says) - in their natural habitat, playing new and old songs, hanging out with the audience, trying to figure out what's going on in the world, &c.
They'll be playing folky, futuristic, fingerpicky, ballady, up-beat, low-down, improvised, meticulously crafted solo and duet music from 7pm til 9pm and it'll cost $10 (or $7 for CMC members) to get in unless you're really broke in which case James will probably sneak you in the back door. There's a back door, right? (no, there’s no back door and no sneaking in allowed – Smith’s management).
Check out their Facebook pages and James's mailing list for heaps of other information and a reminder about the event and some album recommendations &c. &c.
