You can always rely on Chris Harland and his eponymous band to serve up a high standard of searing Chicago Blues and promise to put on a performance that will not be forgotten in a hurry.
Chris Harland is originally from Brighton, UK and has been residing in Australia since 2007. He strides onto the Oz blues scene, the grand Brit tradition of Clapton, Beck, Page and Green, cocked and ready over one shoulder, deadly as a pearl-handled Strat.
Chris’ voice is tough, husky, plaintive, his blues guitar tumbling, darting, tart. Bite down on his no-prisoners riffing: sore-toe, hang-nail, fretful, the flight and the fury and the old, bold story stropped to a humbucking, hambone edge.
Following a couple of very well-received shows at the 2017 Kiama Jazz and Blues Festival in March, CHBB will be releasing their latest EP-CD, “Acoustic”, at Smith’s Alternative.
The night will begin with the band in acoustic mode to showcase a selection of songs from the new EP before closing off with a set of CHBB’s signature high energy electric blues.
