Brady//Donkin//Phipps are three musicians who draw tunes, grooves, and chaos out of 10 strings and a set of drums. Inspired by trios of Wolfgang Muthspiel, Gilad Hekselman, and James Sherlock; their tunes are equally coloured by ambient swells, as by jolts of high-gain stabs. Having been fortunate enough to workshop and eventually collaborate with Sandy Evans in early 2017, Brady//Donkin//Phipps have created a voice that embeds a deep blues into the atmospheres of contemporary guitar writing. Both ‘jazz’, and ‘not-jazz’.

This November, the trio will be collaborating with Montreal saxophonist Alex Francoeur (Alex Francoeur Group, The Liquor Store) in both a Sydney and a Canberra show. Having met originally while studying together in 2015, Francoeur has since studied with Christine Jensen, Ben Wendel, Jean Michel Pilc, Adam Rogers, and Seamus Blake. Two years on, Brady//Donkin//Phipps + Francoeur will be bringing their voices together to create music not to be missed.
