Weather Veins (she/her) is a transwoman singer/songwriter who channels 70s prog rock influences into original folk songs about trees, goddesses, healing, transformation, and loss. Weather Veins has returned to Australia after many years playing the underground folk scene in the Pacific Northwest of the US. She has put out two full length albums and a clutch of compilation tracks, with album 3 closing on completion.
Inez Hargaden is a musician who likes to tell stories, sing songs and laugh a lot. Canberra-based and Irish born, her songs will take you on a journey through themes of connection, love, and the joyful suffering that is being alive.
Zoe and Sophia Santagostino Baldi have turned great performances at the Hecate Daughter's, all women’s’ songwriter feature concert in February, AND ‘Who’s NEXT’ Young Songwriters feature Concert. It’s a duo with a great gift for songwriting, good humour and wonderful vocals.
Minh Ha’s signature sound involves intricate use of finger picking on the acoustic and slide guitar, along with a distinctive percussive style. With mellow vocal stylings and the added sounds of the didgeridoo, harmonica and stomp box, he takes his music to a new and unique level. Minh writes songs about his own experiences, using lyrics and melodies to express his true thoughts. His style is strongly influenced by artists such as John Butler, Jeff Lang, Kim Churchill and Adam Hole.
Stephen Dobson is compere for this Bar Flys, a Canberra-based songwriter and member of the CanberraWax team. From his home studio in Canberra, Stephen teaches guitar and songwriting, passionate about helping others discover their own voice and confidence through music.
ASA CanberraWax is coordinated by ACT regional rep ian paulin and a great team of songwriters and volunteers. In collaboration with Smith’s Alternative we hold regular Feature Concerts throughout the year and a welcoming Song Circle at Smith’s on the FIRST Saturday of each month.
