The Double Baggers
Matt and Simon are something like musical brothers from other mothers, having played music together in various contexts since 2006. Over that time they have written, performed and recorded a range of music and developed an obsession with tea, hence the moniker.
They have collaborated on their own projects like Fats Homicide, Coolio Desgracias and Housemouse, S and M Electroacoustic Ensemble and Krampus. And they have also performed together in Los Chavos and This Way Orkestra among others.
The Double Baggers will be reinterpreting some of the music Matt and Simon have written mainly for horns with two guitars instead, inspired by the guitar duo of John Scofield and Bill Frisell. This then, is a retrospective cakewalk through the many moods and musics of messrs Lustri and Milman, as seen through the prism lens of the guitar.
They will be ably abetted in their endeavours by the rhythm section of Ben O'Loghlin and Gus Henderson, whose plangent grooves always provide plenty of febrile ground for interaction.
