Carter Harp Australia Presents:

Adriano Sangineto is an Italian musician (specialized in Celtic harp), composer and arranger. He completed his musical studies at the Milan Conservatoire where he graduated in clarinet and experimental composition. From his youth he began to breathe music in the environment of the luthery of his father Michele Sangineto, where he came into contact with numerous musicians, such as Nicanor Zabaleta, Alan Stivell, Derek Bell, Carlos Nunez and others.

In 2002 he started playing the Celtic harp as a self-taught and embarked on the path of free experimentation in the most diverse musical fields: from ancient to modern music, passing through classical music, new age, pop, and re-evaluating Italian and European popular music with original arrangements.

Since 2013 he has been deepening his knowledge about folk dances, focusing mainly on European ones. Committed to the constant research for new sonorities, he developed a new technique on the Celtic harp, based on a very strong rhythm, and he founded the first ever Celtic harp solo project for dance, called "arpacadabra". In 2014 he released the album “arpacadabra" as a soloist player for folk dances with the Rox Records label and in 3 years he ran out more than 1000 copies. This project made itself noticed in various European dance festivals, in UK, The Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany, thanks to its originality.

On the way to compose original tunes on the rhythm of folk dances, he founded three folk dance bands: Lyradanz (with his twin sister Caterina and the guitarist Jacopo Ventura), Doomball EMO (with the accordionist Roberto Gallenda) and Kesakò (with the mandola player Stefano Baldan). Thanks to the deepening of classical composition in the conservatoire and its conjugation with popular musical culture, he composed pieces for numerous destinations, such as soundtracks, theatrical activities, advertising.

Adriano released three other solo albums: ”Arpa Creativa” (Creative Harp), in 2012, that showed the versatility of the Celtic harp and his combination with other instruments, “Synantys”, in 2017, based on various original compositions in different music styles, and “Finisterra”, in 2022, with new music landscapes, with collaborations from lots of popular musicians.

He published three more albums with the band “Ensemble Sangineto”, focused on original composition together with traditional tunes from Italian and Celtic roots, and two CDs with “Antica Liuteria Sangineto”, a project that showed musical instruments reproduced by his father Michele from pictures and drawings of the Renaissance (artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Giorgione, Piero di Cosimo, Gaudenzio Ferrari, and so on). The repertoire was about ancient music, from the 14th to the 16th century.

Since 2018 Adriano has been collaborating regularly with Antonella Ruggiero (a famous Italian pop singer) and with the singer-songwriter Lorenzo Monguzzi (ex-leader of the Italian band “Mercanti di Liquore”).
Actually, Adriano is strengthening the link between Celtic harp and dance through the project “Harp & Tap” experimenting how to combine the Celtic harp (and electric effects) with the tap dance.

Adriano runs concerts and masterclasses all over Italy and Europe where he teaches the rhythmic technique on the harp, combined with dance. He takes part to famous festivals such as Edinburgh International Harp Festival (EDINBURGH - UK), Rencontres de la Harpe Celtique (DINAN - F), Arfavita (MOSCOW - RU), Swiss Harp Festival (BERN - CH), Noia Harp Festival (VILA DE NOIA - E), Harp on Wight (ISLE OF WIGHT - UK), Nordic Harp Meeting (LUND - SWE and COPENHAGEN - DK), Festival dell’arpa di Viggiano (VIGGIANO - I), Bologna Harp Festival (BOLOGNA - I), Bardonecchiarp (BARDONECCHIA - I), Harfentreffen (LAUTERBACH - D). He is one of the founder harpist of the Harp School Online.
