Melbourne based indie folk songstress Rowena Wise has seen extensive national touring in the past year, after a successful crowd-funding campaign that snowballed a debut album project with acclaimed Melbourne producer Nick Huggins (Two Bright Lakes & A Pocket Full of Stones). Now, following the ‘Then We Met’ single tour in April, Wise releases her debut album on September 10th with a national tour.
In the vein of Feist, Wise lays pop-infused melodies and quirky conversational lyrics onto a sparse folk canvas, performing with down-to-earth sophistication and a believability that defies her 23 years. The album is a collection of songs drawn from rich poeticism and stark, colloquial imagery, over distinctive melodies, pop hooks and warm, multilayered acoustic instrumentation.
Joining her album tour will be her trio band, comprised of Zac Barter (Canary) and Finn Bennet (Officer Parrot). The trio drives a compelling set with stellar arrangements of Wise's songs on double bass, accordion, ukulele and stunning three part vocal harmonies.
