Local Gold showcases the best and latest original music acts in Canberra.
Hosted by lovable local rockstar, Pete Lyon, the three part show opens with a proven emerging talent and progresses to a headline set from a higher profile established favourite. Most acts are local, but it’s pretty Canberra to welcome visitors too, right.
Local Gold is intimate, fun and entertaining, with an emphasis on authentic artistic expression in original contemporary songwriting. So, if you love hearing local talent, new and old, raw or polished, make this a recurring appointment in your calendar!
Appearing Monday May 5th 2025
Hashemoto is Local Gold! If you’ve lived a few years in Canberra, and have a taste for intelligent, accessible harmonious contemporary acoustic songwriting, then you’re probably already telling others how good this three-piece is. They regularly draw sizeable crowds because, whether you’re hearing them for the first time, or their gorgeous melodies have found their way under your skin, they will leave you spellbound.
Emma Dryden is Local Gold! Music and verve flow through her veins. She’s a natural, captivating performer and multi-instrumentalist with a silky voice and jazzy delivery. She’s played many enormous gigs in successful touring acts and is currently on bass and harmonies in her new and exciting band “Salty Goodness”…but with Local Gold she’s making a return to playing solo and we can’t wait!
Local (Gold) poet and singer-songwriter Alaric Jones’ songwriting and guitar style is heavily inspired by his musical idols Elliot Smith, Leonard Cohen, and Nick Drake. Alaric weaves his poems together with gentle melodies to create intricate, raw stories and brutally honest thoughts, exploring tales of old poets and myths, as well as tackling climate change, grief, and finding strength through music.
