Celebrate the release of Lisa Richards' single, "Sail the Big Wide World," at Smith’s Alternative.

For this launch, the night will kick off with two of Canberra's fearless female songwriters joining Lisa on stage—Jo Evans (Daisy Chain) and Fiona Bolton (Stonebird)—for an intimate, interactive performance.

Set 1: "Inside the Song" Interactive Songwriters Circle Step into the circle. Lisa, Jo, and Fiona pull back the curtain on their songcraft, sharing their music, the stories, process, and inspiration behind their work. YOU get to be part of the process, to ask questions and engage directly with the artists.

Set 2: "Sail the Big Wide World" Single Release Show Lisa and guest musicians will showcase her new single amidst a set of old and new songs—The single is a rollicking, mid-tempo roots-Americana track inspired by her grandmother, Dr. Eulalia Richards, who qualified as a medical doctor in 1904.

Lisa Richards is an international songwriter with a performance history stretching from New York’s legendary clubs to  listening rooms across the USA.  She crafts unvarnished songs that blend folk-jazz, roots, and Americana. With eight independent albums to her name, her work is anchored by sharp observation, honesty, and a commitment to narrative song craft.

Her songwriting and vocal delivery have earned critical acclaim across major national and international publications:

"A simple yet powerful songwriter who beautifully encapsulates [the] human condition." — The Australian
"Stunning, crystal clear voice... exquisite." — Austin American-Statesman
"A truly stunning piece of narrative art." — Rhythms Magazine

Richards' forthcoming ninth studio album, Small Revolutions, continues her journey of independent artistic autonomy. Slated to be recorded live-to-2-inch tape in Los Angeles in early 2027 supported by an ensemble of Grammy-winning roots musicians, lead single "Sail the Big Wide World".

Jo Evans: The songwriter behind Canberra indie-folk project Daisy Chain writing songs that explore themes of ecology, philosophy, and climate policy,

Fiona Bolton: Known for her work in atmospheric indie duo Stonebird, Fiona is a keyboardist and songwriter who captures the subtle details of daily life.
