Her voice has been compared to Florence Welch, Joni Mitchell and even a 'treacherous mountain river'. An awarded songwriter, Julia Johnson’s songs evoke striking echoes of love and loss, at once ruthlessly intimate, and universal. On stage, Johnson’s warm presence and unpredictable banter usher you in to her folk-tinged musical universe, where she brandishes traditional folk instruments with exceptional and unusual technique.

Johnson is excited to come home and share her incredible band and new music with her beloved hometown.

"Bat For Lashes reimagined as the soundtrack to the next party you throw in an opulent baroque chateau." - Dom Alessio, Triple J

“Love the playful guitar plucking and that lilt of Julia’s voice” – Zan Rowe, DoubleJ

Joining Julia on the night will be acclaimed and beloved Canberran powerhouse Pheno, with her scorching electric guitar, blissful vocals, and a colourful world of synths, samples and live looping. She brings to the stage her unique Art-Pop, (with a demented jazz bent), and weaves stories of life, whether just beginning, from under the sea or calling to other worlds.

'Green’s voice is the expressive force – sometimes screaming, sometimes a whisper'

Hayden Fritzlaff, BMA Magazine.
