Chris and David Finnigan are delighted to be launching their new EP 'Finnigan and Brother Learn to Dance' as part of Smiths' National Anti-Folk Festival, accompanied by Aphir and the Norah Jones Half Hour.

This new record has five songs all about romantic love. They are very proud of it and are looking forward to sharing it with you.

The Finnigans grew up watching their father Leon, a Pentecostal minister, instill the fear of God in parishioners across the South. Forbidden to listen to secular music, they spent their early childhoods being home-schooled, watching church choirs and occasionally banging on drums during services. The boys' fates as followers of fundamentalist Christianity seemed sealed until 1997, when Leon Finnigan resigned from the church and divorced his wife. The divorce rocked the Finnigans’ world, and afterwards, Chris moved to Nashville, hoping to break into the music business.

The ‘Finnigan and Brother’ project was born in 2000 when older brother David joined Chris in Nashville. David, who had briefly attended public school, had learned about the music of the Pixies and Velvet Underground. The boys began woodshedding, and by 2002 Finnigan and Brother had interest from nine labels. A bidding war ensued, and the band ultimately signed with RCA Records.

Finnigan and Brother’s debut EP ‘Breaking Into The Aquarium’ was released in 2003. The band's retro-chic look and blend of Southern boogie and gritty garage rock inspired comparisons to both Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Strokes.

APHIR
Aphir is the solo electronic-choral project of Canberra-via-Melbournite, Becki Whitton. Drawing influences from early choral music as well as modern electronica, her work represents a union between her voice and Ableton.

THE NORAH JONES HALF HOUR
Emma and Nathan think the old house they have just moved into is weird. Spooky. Possibly haunted. And the town of Dark Falls is pretty strange, too.
But their parents don't believe them. You'll get used to it, they say. Go out and make some new friends.
So Emma and Nathan do. But these new friends are not exactly what their parents had in mind. Because they want to be friends...
...forever.
