This event is presented by the Wonderful World Festival.

Open the Cabinet of Curiosities to discover the world’s oldest electronic instrument.

The theremin is magically played without touch. Electro-magnetism makes the signature sound
of retro sci-fi and horror movie soundtracks. This show shares the wondrous and creepy sides
of the theremin under the gothic guidance of the legend behind some of Australia’s most eery
bands.

Miles Brown is an internationally acclaimed theremin artist and composer who has performed
everywhere from Play School to Spicks and Specks to the Sydney Opera House. This totally
captivating one-man show weaves the strange science and unusual history of the theremin with
Brown’s intriguing and hilarious personal story of learning to master this fiendishly difficult
instrument, all interspersed with his beautiful and unearthly electronic music.

He’ll be sharing curiosity and skirting the edges of the known and unknown, prepare yourself for
an exploration of fantastic phenomena, ancient electricity and other mysteries of the ether.

Presented as part of the Cabinet of Curiosities at Smith’s Alternative.
