Join us for the Canberra launch of BMA columnist Justin Heazlewood’s new book Dream Burnie. The soirée will feature readings as well as a pop-up art exhibition featuring work by artists in the book. (Burnie is on the north-west coast of Tasmania and is Justin’s hometown.) Justin (a.k.a. The Bedroom Philosopher) will be performing a special set of the first songs he ever wrote when he was a teenager! What a decent thing to do on a Tuesday afternoon, as The Kinks probably sang.

Come and say hello to the Dream Burnie group! They are pretty friendly and quite good looking. Please note this event is free and will run 5pm – 6:30pm sharp!*

* No songs by The Sharp will be performed.

ABOUT THE BOOK
A collection of stories about Burnie people. In particular, the creative ones.

This is the Burnie of our dreams. The best bits of this town and the culture we hold dear.

A book about dreaming big (or sideways, inside out, upside-down) in small places and understanding that it is unassuming towns like Burnie that can make the most wonderful, out-there artists in the country."
Anna Krien

Justin’s genuine affection for Burnie shines through in this part memoir / part celebration of the folk who made the town great and paved the way for others who follow. Any kid who grew up in or is growing up in a country town needs to read this!
