“With Narrabundah College as my old stomping ground (for a little bit before I got pregnant and dropped out) and still having friends and family in Canberra, I feel very connected to the people and to the region.

“The last time I performed at Smith’s Alternative it was one of the most fun shows on the Better Girl tour, and this time should be even more enjoyable, as my sister Heya joins me as special guest support and we will also be revising one of our favourite old co-written songs “Don’t Leave Me Now” written when both of us were in our teens.

“I’m hoping to see some family members who I haven’t caught up with in ages (looking at you Tao!) and some fans who couldn’t make it out to the last show (you know who you are!). No longer a precocious child, prank phone calls have given way to media interviews, bomb threats have been exchanged for bong threats, council housing is swapped for a luxurious hotel room, and the only thing I aim to steal is your heart. I am still learning though- that hasn’t changed, and I still submerse myself entirely in the creative and the emotive (still a drama queen!). Far from the uni shows of the noughties supporting the Whitlams and Cake, Smiths Alternative is a much more intimate and sacred space, allowing for a real connection with the up-close and personal audience. I am really looking forward to it.”
