MILKED OUT
Releases new single & music video, embarks on national tour.
With a voice that “could thaw Greenland” (The Music), “so powerful, raw, mystic, at times angry and sensual” (RTRFM), D avid Craft has seen his fair share of audience attention and critical success in his own projects (D avid Craft, B ig Old Bears, T he Lazy Railway) and at the mercy of bands he has dabbled in previously (A bbe May, James Teague, R abbit Island) . After a taking a step back to record for the earlier half of this year, Craft now returns with a new single Milked Out. The track is to be released October 3rd at The Bird, with a national tour proceeding.
2014 was an incessantly busy one for Craft, highlights including the release of his first EP S mokey Lungs and Dirty Puns and music video, multiple touring stints to Melbourne and culminating in winning WAM’s “Best Folk Act”. Travelling for long periods of time, often alone seemed to force him into a period of selfreflection, translating unmistakably in his recent songwriting. Working closely with longtime producer and collaborator A den Senycia (Flower Drums, Dianas, Nick Allbrook), the newly recorded tracks “tell stories of the past and less about the present” according to Craft. His live set has also transmuted from guitar heavy riffs to sprinklings of synth and prerecorded samplings.
The first track to be released this October M ilked Out i s an earnest and sentimental meditation on Craft’s childhood and time spent with his Mother. The music video for the single shot by local filmmaker Claire Borrello was filmed over a day of David travelling to the hills outside Perth where he grew up. Craft is touring the single nationally throughout October and November.
