In August, Geoff Page’s monthly reading series will feature Judith Beveridge from Sydney and Theodore Ell from Canberra.

Judith Beveridge lives on Wallumedegal land, Sydney. She has published eight collections of poetry and has edited several anthologies. Her book Sun Music: New and Selected Poems was awarded the 2019 Prime Minister’s Award for poetry.  Her latest book is Tintinnabulum shortlisted for The Laurel Prize. In 2025 she was awarded a Creative Australia Lifetime Achievement Award in Literature. She is currently a co-editor of The Marrow International Poetry and was poetry editor of Meanjin for ten years.

Theodore Ell was born in Sydney and moved to Canberra in 2015. For many years, he worked as an editor and in the public service while writing poetry and non-fiction, until in 2025 he became a writer full-time. His essay ‘Façades of Lebanon’ won the 2021 Calibre Essay Prize and his memoir of living in Beirut and surviving the 2020 port explosion, Lebanon Days, was highly commended in the 2025 ACT Book of the Year awards. His poetry collection Beginning in Sight shared the 2022 Anne Elder Award and he is writing new work for another collection. His first novel, The Figure of Interest, will be published in 2028. A researcher in literature at the ANU, he is at work on a new authorised biography of poet Les Murray.
