Join us on a Saturday night for Soundscapes #3 - an monthly event that showcases Canberra’s finest musicians in the fields of experimental, electronic and improvised sound.

Our featured artists for September will submerge you in the musical deep end with John Cage-inspired piano and and ambient electronic soundscapes.

MILLIE WATSON
Millie Watson is a Canberra based classical pianist who really likes sound. In an attempt to escape the musical mausoleum that is the mainstream classical world, Millie uses free improvisation to explore ambiguous harmonies and the complex textures of the piano. Inspired by the likes of John Cage and Morton Feldman, the performance space is transformed into an inclusive environment where all sound is accepted and interesting in its own right.

MICHAEL NORRIS
Michael Norris is a sound artist who creates textural soundscapes using generative systems, home made instruments and feedback. He has exceptionally broad experience in audio, including performances at festivals such as SoundOut, several years hosting Subsequence: a radio program on experimental and electronic music, and postdoctoral research into perception of sound textures. Over the past few years he has created several unique interactive sound installations for galleries in Canberra and Sydney. His most recent installation, featuring sound modulated light was shown at the Conference of the International Community for Auditory Display 2016.
