This week’s Varietal is going to be slightly different in that it is a celebration of both the first anniversary of the reopening of Smith’s and the 49^th birthday of it’s owner, the drunk in the corner at Smith’s, yours truly, Mr Nigel McRae.

For those of you who know that I was born on 26^th July, 1967, I should explain that a few years ago I changed my birthday, as opposed to my birth date, to October 26^th, because July is a shit month weather-wise to throw a party.
