Local Gold showcases the best and latest original music acts in Canberra.

Hosted by lovable local rockstar, EWmma Dryden, the three part show opens with a proven emerging talent and progresses to a headline set from a higher profile established favourite. Most acts are local, but it’s pretty Canberra to welcome visitors too, right.

Local Gold is intimate, fun and entertaining, with an emphasis on authentic artistic expression in original contemporary songwriting. So, if you love hearing local talent, new and old, raw or polished, make this a recurring appointment in your calendar!

Appearing Monday September 1st 2025: Tom Woodward, It’s Happ’nin’ and Jem Allen

Tom Woodward

One of Canberra’s finest, most prolific and quixotic singer-songwriters, here one day, disappearing on another inexplicable quest the next, gathering moss as he rolls along waiting for that lightning to strike, as it inevitably one day will.

It’s Happ’nin’
Bass (Matthew), skin-drum (Sammi) and voice/guitar/uke/vln (Katie)…..and It’s Happening! What more do ya need? Well, some more singers would be great…..but that’s where YOU come in…..Friends, roaming gypsies, Canberrans, lend me your ears……AND YOUR VOICES!

Jem Allen is a long time singer, recently turned songwriter playing their way around the Canberra queer music scene. Taking inspiration from genres spanning from indie folk to Top 40 pop, she writes in an open, honest style accentuated by a thick Aussie accent. Her music dives into the miniscule moments of love, heartbreak, and keeping up appearances.
