Geoff Page’s Poetry at Smith’s for September will feature Brendan Ryan from Geelong and Nicola Bowery from Braidwood.

Brendan Ryan is the author of eight poetry collections. His poetry, reviews and essays have been widely published in literary journals and newspapers. His poems have been shortlisted for the Peter Porter Poetry Prize, The Newcastle Poetry Prize, the ACU Poetry Prize and his collection, 'Travelling Through the Family' was shortlisted for the 2014 Victorian Premier’s Prize. His memoir, 'Walk Like a Cow', was published in 2020 with Walleah Press. 'What it Feels Like: New and Selected Poems' was published by Recent Work Press in 2025. 

Nicola Bowery’s most recent book, 'epicormic, new & selected poems' (Walleah Press) came out late last year. Her previous collections are 'child in the wings' (Walleah Press 2019), 'married to this ground' (Walleah Press 2014), 'Goatfish' (2007) and 'Bloodwood' (1996). She is currently collaborating with a cellist on a soundscape for poems from her extended sequence, 'The sea-maid’s tale'. Her other main poetry activity has been co-leading PoetryAlive or ‘poetry immersion’ workshops with her partner Harry Laing over the last 20 plus years where they live near Braidwood on the Southern Tablelands of NSW.
