Joined by epic Sydney bands The Hot Ness and So I Says To Mabel, the grand old dames of punk will be serving up three hours of loud, punky, grunge goodness to kick off your Saturday night. Come and get stuck in Canberra!

Your Hosts – Matriarch

Matriarch's loud political music is smashing the patriarchy, one sweaty gig at a time. In 2023, Matriarch released their second EP Medusa, toured in Sydney, Central Coast and Melbourne and got two of their songs onto Atomic's Top Ten Independent Music Charts. Matriarch are stoked to be back at Smiths where it all began in 2020 - and they have a few surprises in store including give aways and a special guest appearance by a certain bloke that owns Smiths…

The Hot Ness are an alt/grunge/post-punk Sydney band established in February 2022 by Edie Harkin (vocals & bass), Meg Bernard (guitar) and seasoned drummer John Fenton (Sweetlip, The MoMos, Gary David, King Pest). The band has been gigging solidly around Sydney since July 2022.
In October 2022, the band released their first single “Hands Off”, recorded, engineered and mixed by Richard Ball at Sugarplum Studios and mastered by the renowned Don Bartley. With
fast relentless chugging riffs throughout, Hands Off is a chanty call to arms that loudly grooves. Described by Nunchukka Superfly’s Peter Black as “a bomb going off in your head” Hands Off
seeks to stir. The Hot Ness have since released another five songs to multiple streaming sites and are currently working towards releasing a 12-inch LP with Outtaspace Records.

So I Says to Mabel are a 4-piece pop-punk band from Western Sydney. Coming together in June 2022, the band quickly started writing songs with chunky riffs, catchy melodies, surging bass and precise beats. With each member influenced by different eras of pop-punk, emo, metal and rock, their sound is frantic yet considered. SISTM's interactive and energetic live shows have earned them a loyal following in the local scene. The band's first two singles Circles and Super Emo are available on all streaming services, and their debut EP '...needs therapy' is due for release 25 August.
