April & Alex Duo

April and Alex will present an evening of intimate modern jazz ballads. As a duo they enjoy exploring melodic, chordal and textural colours within a loosened improvisation format.

Alex is a muli-instrumentalist, improviser, composer and music project leader who is well connected within the music sector. Catch him performing in Canberra before he embarks on a new chapter as the CEO of SIMA (Sydney Improvised Music Association).

April is a singer and composer with a keen interest in many musical styles. She has recently returned to Canberra after studying composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and has performed vocal music within classical, jazz and contemporary scenes.

Tab Hart is an accomplished Canberra-based classically trained cellist, well known for her improvised melodies, beautiful accompanying abilities and big smile.

Christopher Pound is active in the jazz music scene and has performed with a diverse range of arists from Australia and abroad. Together as Sonance, they explore textural and melodic improvisation within contemporary and popular music context.
