Jazz has a rich tradition of teacher-student relationships, with younger players often studying under more experienced musicians or being mentored in the context of playing in groups. Legends like Miles Davis, Lennie Tristano, Gary Burton, Charlie Parker, Stan Getz, and Wynton Marsalis with the Jazz Lincoln Centre have all played a role in nurturing some of the biggest names in jazz.

In Canberra, guitarist and teacher Chris Johnstone has had hundreds of students pass through his studio. But none have impressed him as much as Olivia Uebergang, who is currently studying at ANU and has become an in-demand performer and teacher in her own right. Uebergang's beautiful playing and deep understanding of her instrument and music have inspired Johnstone, and now they're teaming up for a special performance.

This will be the first time that Johnstone and Uebergang share the stage, playing their favorite tunes alongside an outstanding rhythm section consisting of Chris Pound on bass and Nick McBride on drums. The show will also feature guest saxophonists Dan Junor, Mereki Leten, and Tom Fell, who will join the band for select songs.

Don't miss this very special performance, which has been years in the making and is sure to be the first of many unforgettable collaborations between these two talented musicians.
