Melbourne musicians Paul Gillett (La Mauvaise Réputation), Adam Russo (Catfish) and superb manouche bassist Tom Flenady are some of Australia's most authentic interpreters of the wild rhythms and passion of 1930s Parisian hot jazz and the beautiful melodies of French chanson.

Performing as a classic manouche trio (guitar/guitar/double bass) with the addition of Gillett's vocals (sung en français, bien sûr), they're exploring the rich tradition of 20th century French popular music from Django Reinhardt's 1930s Parisian dancehalls, to the iconic anthems of Piaf, Montand and Trenet, to the 1960s provocations of enfant terrible Serge Gainsbourg and beyond.

Join them for one Canberra show only at Smith's Alternative, followed by a gypsy jazz jam late into the night (bring your instruments!).

Check out Paul and Adam performing together with La Mauvaise Réputation at Brisbane's OzManouche Festival in November 2022:
