Robbie Mann will be warming up Smith’s Thursday evening with the original works of two stride piano masters - Willie 'The Lion' Smith and James P Johnson. Their music encapsulates what is now called 'Stride' piano style and offers a bridge between the worlds of Ragtime and Jazz, before Swing was king.

There also may be a smattering of other players from the day, such as Fats Waller, Jelly Roll Morten and a couple of Ragtimers’. So, come hear some of this music Robbie has been working on, it's good stuff you don't hear often!

Also, Zackerbilks are playing straight after, so strap in for a Thursday evening deluge of trad jazz (it was a coincidence, honest).
