Hailing from the small community on Scotland Island, Sydney, Australia, Lachy Hamilton is fast becoming a well-known performer in the Australian music scene having shared the stage with musicians including Patti Austin, Jeff Clayton, The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and recorded on the aria-nominated album “James Morrison and his Academy Orchestra”.

At 23, Hamilton was in the inaugural class of graduates from the James Morrison Academy of Music (Uni SA) where he studied closely with Jeff Clayton, Mat Jodrell, Carl Mackey, Angela Davis and Troy Roberts. He was the sole recipient of the 2016 Excellence in Performance Award and a member of the top-tier jazz orchestra, recording and touring across the US in venues including Dizzy’s Coca-Cola Club (New York), the Green Mill (Chicago) and at the 2017 Jazz Educators Network Conference (New Orleans).

Lachy returns to Smith's Alternative on Thursday 8th November with his quartet featuring Harry Morrison (Double Bass), Patrick Danao (Drums) and Matt Harris (Piano). They'll be presenting a set of swinging original compositions as well as arrangements of favourite jazz standards.
