King Curly

In a recent interview for The Guardian, Australian music legend Don Walker chose to single out Steve Appel aka King Curly "as good a songwriter as anyone on the planet and as beautiful a singer", while Paul Kelly (no less) has seen fit to write an old style ‘Letter Of Introduction’ to the same effect.

Appel is a contemporary-folk singer songwriter hailing from the Blue Mountains of NSW .  The King Curly three-piece ensemble featuring Steve Grieve and Johnny Graffham is based around pedal steel and has toured by invitation with acts as diverse as k.d Lang, The Cat Empire and of course, Paul Kelly.

They have performed in the USA, Europe and the major Australian music festivals including Woodford, The National Folk Festival and Byron Blues & Roots.
