Hashemoto, one of Canberra’s longest running (including extended Trouser Trouser period), most enigmatic and best loved bands, famed for dragging a piano to many an inconvenient location – mountaintops, back yards, parks... carparks – for acoustic gigs, have invited their friend Julia Johnson to join them at the third of their four monthly residencies.
Canberra-born Julia Johnson is a singer, songwriter, producer and multi instrumentalist. Johnson’s songs evoke striking echoes of love and loss, at once ruthlessly intimate, and universal. On stage, Johnson’s warm presence and unpredictable banter usher you in to her folk-tinged musical universe, where she brandishes antique folk instruments with exceptional and unusual technique.
