The lovely singers from Canberra Opera will feature in August Classical Capers in a program of tasters from their forthcoming production of two of the most beloved operas, Mascagni's Cavallieri Rusticana and Puccini's Gianni Schicchi. Mezzo-soprano Veronica Thwaites-Brown will host an evening of operatic delights and, of course, invite performers from the audience to take the stage to perform a classical item. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear opera singers performing in such an intimate setting as Smith’s. 

Held on the first Tuesday of each month, Smith’s Alternative warmly invites all classically trained musicians, of all levels, of all ages, to come along to CLASSICAL CAPERS and put your hand up on the night to sing or play the instrument of your choice. Ensembles are also most welcome.

Opera star Tobias Cole hosts an entertaining evening of beautiful singing featuring ANU’s finest choirs. There’ll be opportunities for ‘open mic’ so bring your favourite classical piece or opera aria to perform and maybe Tobias can be persuaded to sing an aria or two!

Classical Capers is also an excellent opportunity for students to hop up on the stage and play anything from Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to a virtuosic concerto.
