Featured act: Clarion directed by Tobias Cole

Clarion is a quartet of classical singers sharing their passion for ensemble singing with Canberra audiences. The group, directed by Tobias Cole has been performing a monthly program of Evensong in the National Portrait Gallery since 2014.

Held on the first Wednesday of each month, Smith’s Alternative warmly invites all classically trained musicians, of all levels, of all ages, to come along to CLASSICAL CAPERS and put your hand up on the night to sing or play the instrument of your choice. Ensembles are also most welcome.

Every now and then, good quality piano players sit down at Canberra's outdoor piano at Smith's and bless us with some sweet music. Of course, sometimes, it's drunken chopsticks, which we're not sick of in the least. But on many occasions, we hear magic, and we want to invite that magic inside, and give people who may not normally perform a warm and welcoming platform to bless us with their talents.

MUSICAL CAPERS is also an excellent opportunity for students to hop up on the stage and play anything from Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to a virtuosic concerto.

This Caper will be curated by Steven Bailey. If you’d like to participate, please email him at sjbailey7@gmail.com
