The Novellas are a 5-piece band from the Bega Valley on the Far South Coast of NSW, Australia. Their songs are inspired by contemporary works of fiction from Australia and beyond. Sparse & atmospheric, The Novellas paint in song the evocations of the printed word and celebrate the emotional power of storytelling.

The Novellas concept was born when singer/songwriter Myoung Jae Yi used his book reading hangovers as raw material for his songwriting contributions to the Candelo Songwriters Club. The result is a rich tapestry of jazz-infused, folk-rock pop songs that capture the bittersweet literature that inspires them. The live show is peppered with readings from these books. Actor Craig Alexander will be your reader for this unique show.

The lineup is Myoung Jae Yi on guitar and vocals, bassist Josh Becker, Anna Martin on drums, the youthful chanteuse Cellestine Janiola on vocals and Andrew Gray on vocals and piano.
