Maxwell Street in Chicago is often considered to be the birthplace of what became known as Chicago Blues: a tough, straight ahead, urban version of the Blues that had drifted up from the Mississippi delta in the 1930s and 1940s.

The Groove Kings are one of Canberra's premier Blues bands and would like to invite one and all to share in an exploration of the Chicago Blues sound, with some stripped back instrumentation, low-tech amplification and a whole lot of storytelling in the Blues tradition. Come along and soak up the righteous shuffles, low down guitar, funky piano, mean harmonica and direct vocals of one of the twentieth century's most magnificent music genres.

As the saying goes, 'Blues is life'.
