symposium - noun

1. a conference or meeting to discuss a particular subject.
2. a drinking party or convivial discussion, especially as held in ancient Greece after a banquet or at Smith’s most nights of the year.

Smith’s Songwriters’ Symposium is a new regular event on the Smith’s calendar, aimed at bringing songwriters together to discuss the art of songwriting, share therir songs, and learn from each other in a convivial and cooperative atmosphere.

At this week’s symposium Bryn Evans will take two acoustic guitar and vocal tracks and show how one was turned into a pitch for a Disney Artist and the other for TV.  Bryn will run through the value of collaboration to enhance your ideas, how the songs that you write aren’t actually that far away from what you hear on TV and radio, and how a few simple tweaks make your song more accessible to the listener. It will also include running through the Pro Tools session, plugins, presets and all.

Bryn is a full time songwriter and composer. His work has appeared in TV shows on HBO, MTV, E!, VH1, Bravo, TLC, A&E, ABC Family and CMT.  He specialises in indie electro and trap but has also had tracks placed in a wide range of styles from indi folk, singer-songwriter, hick hop, dance pop, indie rock, pop rock, EDM and alt country. He works out of the Gorman Arts Centre.

Entry will normally be free, but when we have a special guest, a donation of $5 would be appreciated
