Slow Code was formed in 2014 as a vehicle for Gareth Hill’s research into the music of Henry Threadgill. Threadgill’s innovative music proved ripe for study, leading Hill to experiment with new musical concepts in the creation of their debut self-titled album. Featuring saxophonist Jack Beeche, guitarist Dan Mamrot, drummer Aaron McCullough and Hill on bass, the quartet performs original compositions exploring alternative harmony, form modulation and improvised counterpoint. Slow Code presents new and exciting music in the jazz and improvised music tradition.
