Welcome to the eighth edition of Singer Songwriters Solo, wherein we explore the songs (and souls) of three singer-songwriters.

If you’re a fan of songwriters but sometimes feel you’d rather hear the songs without bands and all the tricks, noise and musical wizardry composers frequently use to pretty up their compositions, this is the gig for you.

The three artists submitting to our friendly but possibly forensic analysis are:

Rob Moir – Toronto’s punk-poet Rob Moir looks back at two consecutive years of life on the road with the release of his new album 'Adventure Handbook' (Underground Operations/eOne - Canada, Make My Day Records - EU released August 2015). In the vein of timeless artists (and muses) like Bruce Springsteen, The Replacements and Jeff Tweedy, Rob's songs are honest and exceedingly entertaining to see live. Rob continues to routinely finesses clever turns of phrase in his lyrics. The opening track 'New Years Eve' shows hope on the horizon, with 'Run For Your Life' & 'Ports Of Call' illuminating the excitement of doing what you love on an unknown course.

Johnnie Goodall – Conceived in Melbourne, grown in the central desert and birthed in the blues clubs of Adelaide, Johnny Goodall's blues experience will transport you straight back to the days of yesteryear where improvised jamming was the way that music was made. His electrified stage presence is matched only by his screaming blues guitar licks and his instantly recognisable high wail. But there is a soulful edge to Johnny's music that is very human and 'real'. It is this subtlety that makes Johnny's more than your regular, day to day Bluesman.

Cat Ridgeway – Cat Ridgeway, a singer/songwriter hailing from Orlando, Florida, is a skilled lyricist and melodist. Cat’s eclectic style shines through her ability to play guitar and harmonica (at the same time!), trumpet, trombone, drums, piano, and bass.Cat's most recent project "Passenger Seat" is a direct result of her overfunded Kickstarter campaign "Cat Goes to Nashville". She had the privilege of working with the likes of Gordon Kennedy and many other seasoned Nashville players. Cat's debut album "On a Windy Day" was recorded at the Music Lab located in Orlando, Florida. The title track was written for the Movie "Bernie" starring Jack Black (sadly, it didn't make the final cut - still super cool, though!).
