This is a public recording of Mansell Laidler’s research project entitled “Electronic Bass- The Electric Bass as an interface for the creation of Electronic Music.” This innovative exploration of solo bass and music technology has paved the way for Mansell’s solo Electronic Music project known as “Mnasle Bass” named after a pronunciation error of his name by a house announcer at a performance in Townsville.  The performance will be completely improvised, with the bass processed through a Line 6 Helix LT and the results looped in Ableton Live. The results of experiments and performances changed the focus of the original inquiry, which was about solo bass and technology, to a project about the creation of electronic music using the electric bass.
