The idea for this gig was formed several years ago, during a drunken conversation - as are most of the best ideas. It was noted that a certain trumpet player of our acquaintance was playing with pretty much every good band in town and could be considered a bit of a slut, metaphorically speaking.
From this sprang the idea of a gig where said trumpet player played with a bunch of his collaborators on the one night, and thus Strumpet was born and a great night was had by all. And like most good ideas, this one had legs, numerous legs, one of which was Guitart, in which a guitarist played with a bunch of their collaborators. And the first to take up the mantle was Lachlan Coventry.
Lachlan will be playing with a rhythm section comprising Luke Glanville on drums and Simon Milman on bass, and will play short sets with the following artists:
Llewellyn Osbourne - violin
Jess Green - guitar
Clare Dawson - piano
Rachael Thoms – voice
We encourage local musicians to front up with ideas for similar shows, hopefully with an equally bad pun for the title.
