“The Blues and the Abstract Truth” – it’s a definition of jazz as good as any. Paired with an opening set of solo features and Raupach's original compositions for the assembly of horns, Oliver Nelson’s masterful arrangements from his 1961 magnum opus bristle with colour and punch, and light the fire of the blues under his cast of virtuoso soloists.
