Freelings shocked fans by releasing their debut single on the night of their farewell show. This bittersweet occasion marked the beginning of a year long hiatus. After 12 months of radio silence, Freelings exploded back into the Canberra music scene with a lively performance at Alt Rock Fest at the OCI in January.

Now, Lewis DeLorenzo (vocals, guitar), Dylan Elks (vocals, guitar), Charlotte Strong (violin, vocals) and Taliya Blom (drums) are releasing their long anticipated second single, ‘I never knew I was a dancer’.

“This song tells a story”, Dylan explains, “it’s about drinking too much, falling in love, and thinking you can dance when you can’t. It’s an origins story. The origins of me casting aside all fears of dancing and just doing it, and not caring what anybody else thinks, for one reason… because it’s fun!”

Freelings are joined by their good friend Mr Evan Buckley, aka The Burley Griffin, who will be warming up the crowd for the opening act.

Evan Buckley allows audiences to feel free to feel. His stage charisma and complete lack of inhibitions and fear is infectious and will have you singing and dancing along with his rhythmic gyrations. Evan’s song writing combines emotional ballads, heartbreaking humour, sing-along hooks, and headbanging rhythms. His folky style and storytelling ability naturally compliment Freelings.

Freelings are a four piece alt-folk band. Dancing atop the stage (and sometimes in the audience) with Taliya’s beats, jerking tears with Charlotte’s emotive, soaring violin solos, providing beauty and awe with Lewis’s lyrical poetry and storytelling, and leaving behind laughter and energy with Dylan’s banter and dance moves. Freelings will have you on the edge of your seat, if not, up and dancing.

6:30-7:10 - Evan Buckley
7:20-8:30 - Freelings
