You saw them rip it up in 2024 Dept of Rock's Battle of the Bands - come back and see our bands do it again in the Dept of Rock's All Stars shows at Smith’s in May, June and July 2025. Sunday afternoons have never been so much fun!
All Stars gigs give bands that entered last year’s comp, the chance to play again and for longer, without competition pressure but still within the fun and friendly Dept of Rock community. So dust off those dancing shoes and get down to Smith’s and join in the fun as our public servant rockstars let loose again.
Drop in for one band ($10) or see a couple bands or better still stay for the whole show ($20).
Dept of Rock All Stars – Cranked Division: 22 June 2025, 3 to 6pm
It might be cold outside but in the Smith’s band room, it'll be toasty as - because four awesome DoR bands are cranking up their amps to give us an afternoon of high-energy rock ‘n roll!
Tuesday Weld Experience
First out the gates is Tuesday Weld Experience. What kind of music do they play? Well it’s hard to explain, but imagine a mix of original long, lonesome broken-hearted country-esque tunes along with upbeat poppy songs, all topped off with a Jimmy Page-inspired lead guitar for that extra sizzle. Influences come from the likes of Paul Kelly, Weddings, Parties, Anything & the Sunnyboys. In other words, they’re awesome, so get a ticket and get experienced…
Phoenix Bureau
Phoenix Bureau rose from the ashes of a former band torn apart by the rock gods. But with successful recruitment they are now brimming with talento, gusto and APS-innuendo. This four-piece are an eclectic group of current and former public servants that want to make you move – to dance, to laugh, maybe even move you to tears. With inspiration drawing from pop, indie, rock, blues and metal, you never know what they’ll submit next; but rest assured it will fun, feisty and possibly zombified.
ECHO!
Post-punk with a melodic twist, ECHO! is here to get you on your feet and have a boogie. They’re a neurodiverse band with a bunch of original songs with messages of empowerment for women and neurodivergent people. ECHO! were semi finalists last year in our band comp and we can’t wait to see them back in the Dept of Rock universe as they serve up a hot and spicy femme punk set.
Dumpster Fires
Consisting of high school teachers, the Dumpster Fires normally subject only their students to the collection of unpolished covers. Last year they made the bold decision to share their haphazard approach to professionalism and music ability with a wider audience at Battle of the Bands – and they blew us away (because they are actually kick arse musos!). Time to brush up on your three Rs with the Dumpsters – Rock and Roll and a Raging good time.
