Experience an intimate one-off performance of Maid to Mistress (La Serva Padrona). Composed in 1733 by the brilliant young composer Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, this work was an immediate hit and twenty years later would spark the ‘Guerre des Bouffons’ - the war of the comic actors in Paris.

SInger and host Tobias Cole is joined by young soprano Elsa Huber and the beautifully expressive mime Marcel (Marceau) Cole with a string ensemble led by Helena Popovic to bring to life this tale of a servant-master relationship where we ask who really is the master? So that no one misses out on this great story, the recitative will be acted in English and the arias and duets sung in Italian. In keeping with previous Salons the performance will be followed by a short discussion about the significance, then and now, of this entertaining work.
