Troubadour and raconteur Ben Wright Smith began writing songs as a teenager. Described now as 'one of the country's most exciting songwriters' (ToneDeaf), his journeyman-style storytelling has its roots in phsych-folk, alt-country and beat poetry.

Ben's worldwide travels as a young twenty-something inspired a catalogue of hundreds of songs. With a guitar in town, Ben travelled through Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Nicaragua, Cuba and Mexico - with brief forays into India learning the local language, and using music as a 'way to remember the poems' he had been writing.

In July 2014, Ben released the Oscar Dawson produced  'In Parallel' EP to a swathe of great reviews. He received airplay on community radio both in Australia and the US, and toured with the likes of D.D. Dumbo, Holy Holy, and Bertie Blackman.  Early 2015 found Ben Wright Smith releasing  single ‘No One’  featuring frequent collaborator Ali Barter on guest vocal duties.  Ben was fortunate enough to receive full rotation on national broadcaster Triple j. 'No One' peaked on the Amrap community radio charts nationwide reaching #1 in regional charts and #2 in the metropolitan charts. The success of 'No One' saw 2015 was a big touring year for Ben in having completed two national tours and supporting artist such Megan Washington, The Preatures, Meg Mac and Thelma Plum.

2016 has already kicked off at a frenetic pace with Ben teaming back up in the studio with his old high school friend  Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy) which will culminate in  his debut Long Player being released later in the year.
